Custom Kitchens
A custom kitchen is our core work: cabinets drawn to your room rather than assembled from fixed carcass sizes. Because Gosford records roughly 1,314mm of rain a year with humid, autumn-tilted summers, we build wet-area and under-bench boxes in 16-18mm HMR moisture-resistant board and heat-seal every exposed edge so swelling does not creep in around the sink and dishwasher. Cabinets are glued, dowelled and built square, then scribed and packed level on site so reveals sit within about 2mm even in an out-of-square East Gosford brick cottage. Drawers run on full-extension soft-close runners rated near 40kg, stepping up to 70kg for heavy pot drawers, on Blum or Hettich hardware.
Wardrobes and Storage
Built-in and walk-in wardrobes are the storage upgrade Central Coast owners ask for most, especially in older beach cottages at Woy Woy and Long Jetty where original bedrooms have shallow, awkward recesses and no fitted robes at all. We measure the true opening, scribe the ends to walls that are rarely plumb in a settled fibro home, and fit the internals, hanging, shelving and soft-close drawers to how you actually store things. Sliding or hinged doors both run on quality tracks and 3-way adjustable hinges rated past 100,000 open-close cycles, so a robe used every day of a beachside summer keeps closing flush for years.
Bathroom and Laundry Joinery
Bathrooms and laundries are the most punishing rooms for cabinetry on the coast: constant moisture on top of already-humid coastal air. We carcass vanities and laundry units in 16-18mm HMR board, seal every routed cut-out around basins and taps, and back the doors with finishes that shrug off steam. Honesty matters here, so we say it plainly: moisture-resistant board resists humidity and splashes, it is not waterproof, and standing water still needs wiping up. For homes a few streets from the surf at The Entrance or Terrigal we specify corrosion-resistant hinges, runners and fixings, because ordinary zinc-plated hardware pits and stiffens in salt air.
Benchtops, Materials and Finishes
Since the national prohibition on engineered stone took effect on 1 July 2024, we do not fabricate or install it. That is not a limitation on your kitchen, it simply changes the compliant menu we work from: laminate for value and colour range, natural granite or marble cut by licensed stonemasons, porcelain for a stone look with high heat and scratch resistance, or solid timber for warmth. Doors come in melamine, high-pressure laminate, timber veneer or a two-pac polyurethane top-coat for a hard, seamless painted finish. We are cautious with vinyl-wrap near ovens and cooktops, where coastal-summer heat can lift the film over time.
Built for the Coast: Measure to Install
The Central Coast is not one type of house, so we do not build to one template. Waterfront and older suburbs like Umina Beach, Woy Woy, The Entrance and Long Jetty are settled fibro and weatherboard, often out of square, so every job there is scribed and packed by hand. Post-war brick around Gosford, East Gosford and Wyong sits somewhere in between. The new slab-on-ground estates in the north at Warnervale, Wadalba and Hamlyn Terrace are true and square, which suits full modular cabinetry. What a Cabinet Maker Costs on the Central Coast
Custom cabinetry is priced on the job rather than by the metre, so an honest figure depends on the size of the kitchen or joinery, the materials and finish you choose, and the benchtop. That is why the cabinetmaker measures on site and gives you a written quote instead of a number over the phone. The guide below sets out what moves the price.
What goes into the price
The biggest drivers are the number and size of cabinets and the materials used. Carcasses are usually melamine or moisture-resistant board, while doors run from value laminate up to timber veneer and sprayed 2-pac (polyurethane) for a seamless painted finish, and every step up adds cost. Benchtops shift the total as well: laminate is the value choice, with natural stone and porcelain sitting at the premium end. Quality hinges, soft-close runners and extras such as a butler's pantry, a walk-in robe or a fitted laundry all lift the figure too.
New builds and renovations, priced apart
A fit-out for a new home in the Wyong and Warnervale growth corridor or a Kariong estate is usually a clean install, while a renovation in an established Gosford, Woy Woy or East Gosford home also means stripping out the old kitchen, making good and often re-planning the layout, so the two are quoted differently. Where the existing cabinets are still sound, refacing the doors and benchtop is a lower-cost refresh worth weighing up. Every job is quoted in writing after a site measure, with no invented figures and no hidden extras.
Common Cabinetry Problems on the Central Coast
Most cabinetry we are called out to fix around the Central Coast comes down to the wrong board in wet areas near the coast and lakes, flat-pack that never suited the space, and dated layouts that ran short on storage. These are the issues we see most across the region and how we build to avoid them.
Flat-pack that never suited local homes
The older homes across Woy Woy, Gosford, East Gosford and Long Jetty are full of tight galley kitchens, sloped ceilings and awkward alcoves that fixed flat-pack widths simply cannot fill, so you end up with filler panels and dead space. The nearest flat-pack warehouses are an hour-plus down the M1 in Sydney, then it is yours to assemble. We build every cabinet to the exact millimetre for the room it sits in, which is the real difference for these spaces.
Moisture damage near the coast and lakes
Standard board swells and blows out once moisture gets into it, and along the beaches and the Tuggerah Lakes the salt air and humidity only add to the load, with the kitchen, laundry and bathroom vanity the usual trouble spots. We use high-moisture-resistant (HMR) board in every wet area and seal the cut edges properly. HMR is moisture-resistant rather than waterproof, but paired with quality coastal-grade hardware it stands up to daily use in Terrigal, Umina Beach and The Entrance homes.
Benchtops and the engineered-stone ban
Since 1 July 2024 it has been unlawful across Australia to make, supply or install engineered (reconstituted) stone benchtops, on health grounds, with importation also prohibited from 1 January 2025. We do not fabricate or fit engineered stone. Instead we fit compliant natural stone, porcelain, laminate and solid timber, help you settle on the right like-for-like replacement, and work to current silica-safety rules whenever we handle any stone.
Dated layouts and not enough storage
Closed-off galley kitchens with no island, bedrooms with freestanding robes and laundries with a single cupboard are common in the older housing around Gosford, Woy Woy and Wyong, and they all waste space. We re-plan the room properly, adding butler's pantries, walk-in and built-in wardrobes, fitted laundries and media or storage joinery so the finished space actually works for how the household lives, whether it is a family home or a downsizer.

Do you install engineered stone benchtops?
No. The fabrication and installation of engineered stone has been prohibited across Australia since 1 July 2024, on health grounds relating to silica dust. We work only from compliant benchtops: laminate, natural granite or marble through licensed stonemasons, porcelain, or solid timber. Porcelain in particular gives a stone look with excellent heat and scratch resistance, so you lose nothing in the look you can achieve.
